Gender Blur- You bet! Pantone’s Color of the Year

For the first time, Pantone has deviated from tradition and selected two colors as Color of the Year – Rose Quartz and Serenity. It is a much softer take on color than last year’s rich choice of Marsala. The delicate pink and tranquil blue creates a balance between the warmth of the rose tone and the coolness of blue. It also challenges the traditional perceptions of color pairing. Regardless, these colors create a sense of calmness and relaxation. The choice reflects many global changes in fashion with gender blurring designs and a younger generation that is less concerned about past social norms.
With Consumers growing more comfortable with color look for Rose Quartz and Serenity to be used throughout the home. They easily pair with rich browns, greens and purples. And remember, you don’t have to immerse your home with these colors. Try adding pillows, bedding, accent pieces or window treatments using these pinks and blues. It’s a great way of staying on trend without saturating your space.
